WASHINGTON: The United States (US) Department of State Spokesperson Matthew Miller reaffirmed support for its long-term ally, Israel, while denouncing Iran’s missile attack on Israel, on Tuesday.

Miller also criticised Hamas, laying blame on the group that it was not engaging in negotiations. This, the US State Department spokesperson argued, indicated was a huge barrier to any potential ceasefire talks.
He said that the absence of dialogue from Hamas’ side made it clear that a truce was not on the horizon.
Regarding the recent Iranian missile attack on Israel, Miller noted that, according to reports, no casualties were reported thus far.
However, he condemned the attack, labelling it as an act of ‘terrorism’. Miller called for the international community to denounce Iran’s attack on Israel. He stressed for a ‘need’ for a unified response to such ‘aggression’.
