US: Camarillo Heights at risk as “mountain fire” erupts in California – HUM News


CAMARILLO: A huge wildfire, known as the mountain fire, erupted in the Venture County, located in the state of California, United States (US).

The fire threatens the Camarillo Heights area and has forced widespread evacuations.

The wildfire started around 9:30 am local time. While initially classified as a small scale incident, the fire quickly spread to over 8,.900 acres.

As per reports, firefighters soon rushed to the scene and attempted to put out the growing mountain fire.

However, they face stiff resistance from mother nature itself, as strong winds helped the fire s[read, while preventing aircrafts from reaching the scene.

Helicopters were also deployed to drop water, however, strong winds limited aerial firefighting.

According to the reports, at least three homes in the Camarillo Heights were devastated. Footage showed houses either visibly on fire, or completely cindered.

Residents were forced to evacuate, with many sharing with local news outlets that counting painful accounts. One resident had to leave behind her pets, returning later to recuse them.

Fire ignites in Malibu

Meanwhile, a broad fire sparked in Malibu, US, where it managed to burn almost 50 acres of land.

Residents in surrounding region were evacuated as firefighters managed to gain control of the growing menace.

Power companies shut off electricity and gas for thousands of residents to prevent fire from potentially igniting.

The US’ National Weather Service issued a “particularly dangerous situation” alert because of the fire. The warning indicates a high risk of fire due to dry and windy weather.

Several meteorologists predicted that wind speeds could reach up anywhere from 48 kilometres per hour to 88.
