NEW YORK/TEHRAN: An urgent meeting in the United Nations (UN) Security Council was called following Iran’s missile attack on Israel on Tuesday, which has escalated further exacerbated tensions in the already volatile region.
Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister stated that the strike was an assertion of Iran’s right to self-defence against he termed the aggression of the Zionist regime.

The Foreign Minister warned that any further actions by Israel would provoke an even stronger response from Iran.
The missile attack follows heightened tensions and divisions in the region following Israel brutal invasion and assault on Gaza, occupied-West Bank and Lebanon. Over 42,000 Palestinians have been killed in brutal bombardment by Israel since last October, including 15,000 children; while over a thousand Lebanese have perished in just over a week.
The Iranian Ministry of Defence and Armed Forces Logistics also issued a statement, urging “supporters of Israel” to avoid interfering in “regional matter”, asserting that any intervention will be met with a ‘decisive response’.
In a statement following the attack, the Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated that the action was taken to ‘ensure’ peace and security for both, Iran and its citizens.
Pezeshkian said that Iran does not seek conflict but will firmly defend itself against any threats. “This is a small demonstration of our strength; don’t get into a conflict with Iran”, the Iranian president cautioned.
