WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump has stated that he has no plans to deport Prince Harry despite ongoing legal challenges over the Duke of Sussex’s immigration status.
In an interview with The New York Post, Trump dismissed any intention to take action against Harry. “I don’t want to do that,” he said. “I’ll leave him alone. He’s got enough problems with his wife. She’s terrible,” he added.
The statement comes amid a legal battle involving Harry’s visa, particularly a case filed by the Heritage Foundation. The conservative think tank has raised concerns over whether Harry disclosed his past drug use in his visa application. His autobiography Spare details his experiences with cocaine, cannabis, and psychedelics.

According to The New York Post, Trump also praised Harry’s older brother, Prince William, calling him “a great young man.” The two met privately in Paris in December 2024 during the reopening of Notre-Dame Cathedral. This meeting contrasted sharply with Trump’s tense relationship with Harry and Meghan.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been vocal critics of Trump in the past. Meghan Markle previously labelled him “divisive” and “misogynistic.” In return, Trump has frequently mocked Harry, suggesting he is dominated by Meghan. “I think poor Harry is being led around by the nose,” he remarked in an earlier interview.
The Heritage Foundation’s lawsuit against the Department of Homeland Security questions Harry’s honesty in his US visa application. Nile Gardiner, a representative of the organisation, stated, “Anyone applying to the United States must be truthful, and it is unclear whether that was the case with Prince Harry.”
The think tank has also suggested that Harry may have received special treatment from the Biden administration. Harry and Meghan moved to California in 2020 after stepping down as senior royals, a decision widely referred to as “Megxit.”
