KARACHI: Sindh Senior Minister and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Sharjeel Memon has condemned suspension of Indus Waters Treaty by India. He called it “open aggression” against Pakistan and “a serious threat to peace in the region.”
Memon said that the move to suspend Indus Waters Treaty is highly provocative and irresponsible. “It is a deliberate attempt to sabotage the ongoing peace efforts in the region,” he said.
The minister added that India has resorted to false flag operations during international visits in the past. “India shed the blood of Sikhs during the visit of former US President Clinton. India has repeated the same old trick in Pahalgam once again today,” Memon said.
India and Pakistan: a history of conflict
He added that Pakistan has been an effective and dynamic part of the global campaign against terrorism. “We have sacrificed thousands of lives in the war against terrorism. India is moving towards war in its pursuit for power. Pakistan will not tolerate provocation,” he said.
Sharjeel Memon also said that India’s action is a sign of moral bankruptcy and a slap in the face of the international community. “World powers, the United Nations and human rights organisations should take notice of this serious violation,” he added.
