LONDON: Snowfall has disrupted daily life across the UK, forcing the closure of dozens of schools and halting road and rail travel.
The Met Office warned of snow, ice, and freezing conditions as an Arctic air mass moved southward. Rural areas face the risk of isolation, and power outages are also expected.

According to the BBC and The Guardian, nearly 200 schools have been shut, while commuters endured widespread disruptions with numerous train services delayed or cancelled due to snow-covered tracks.
The Met Office predicts snowfall of up to five centimetres in many areas of the UK, with up to 20 centimetres at higher altitudes.
Meanwhile, the UK Health Security Agency issued its first cold weather alert of the season, cautioning that the freezing conditions could pose serious health risks to the elderly and vulnerable groups.
