In his statement, the special assistant referred to the portrait as that of a “fascist” figure following the country’s independence in 1971. He noted that it has been taken down from the Durbar Hall of the presidential residence.
The assistant said he was disappointed that the removal of Rahman’s images from official spaces was not addressed “earlier”, especially citing August 5 as a significant date in the context.
