Ride accident at Saudi amusement park leaves 23 injured – HUM News

TAIF: At least 23 people were injured, some critically, after a popular amusement park ride malfunctioned at Green Mountain Park near Taif, Saudi Arabia, on Thursday.

The incident took place in the Hada area, where dozens of visitors had gathered for a day of leisure. The ride, known as 360 Degrees, was in full swing when its central pole suddenly snapped, sending the ride crashing down with several riders still onboard.

Videos circulating on social media showed young men and women screaming with excitement moments before disaster struck. The footage captured the ride swaying at full speed before the main support structure cracked in half, resulting in a loud crash as the ride collapsed.

Eyewitnesses said the impact was violent. Some people were reportedly struck by the broken metal arm as it recoiled, while others were injured after falling with their seats. The injuries ranged from moderate to severe, according to Saudi daily Okaz.

Hospitals in Taif declared a Code Yellow emergency and began receiving the injured shortly after the incident. First responders and rescue teams arrived quickly at the scene, providing initial aid before transporting victims to nearby hospitals.

Authorities have launched a full investigation to find out what caused the mechanical failure. Meanwhile, the park has suspended operations of the ride as a safety precaution.
