MUMBAI: Jay Shah, the current Secretary of the Indian Cricket Board (ICB), is expected to be the next International Cricket Council (ICC) Chairman, according to Indian media reports.
Greg Barclay, the incumbent ICC Chairman, will step down when his term concludes in November, with Shah emerging as a strong contender for the role.

Barclay, who has held the position since 2020, is reportedly not seeking a third term, largely due to Shah’s robust backing. Both Australia and England are said to be in support of Shah’s candidacy, further solidifying his chances of taking the helm at the ICC.
Candidates interested in the ICC Chairman role have until August 27 to submit their nominations. If multiple candidates enter the race, an election will be held on December 1 to determine the next chairman.
At 35 years old, Jay Shah would become the youngest ICC Chairman if elected. Currently serving as the President of the Asian Cricket Council, Shah is also the son of India’s Home Minister, Amit Shah, adding a political dimension to his potential elevation to one of cricket’s most influential positions.
