NEW DELHI: Amid rising India-Pakistan tensions, Hindu extremist organisation Hindu Raksha Dal has begun to openly threaten Muslims, giving them an ultimatum to leave their homes or risk being “punished”.
In a video message shared on X, formerly Twitter, Hindu Raksha Dal spokesperson has demanded that Muslims living in the city Dehradun – in Uttrakhand state, 15 hours away from Kashmi – to leave their homes or they will be punished for the Pahalgam attack.
“Suspension of Indus Water Treaty by India is serious threat to peace in the region”
In the video, the man speaking can be heard saying, “We can no longer trust or wait for the BJP government… we will teach them a lesson. No Kashmiri Muslim will be spared.” He then proceeds to “warn” all Kashmiri Muslims to leave the state by 10 AM.
Meanwhile, on a state level, India has suspended the Indus Water Treaty with Pakistan, in addition to closing the main land border crossing between the two countries. Visas of Pakistani nationals currently visiting India, under the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC), have also been cancelled with 48-hours deadline to leave India.
News reports also show that defence advisers in the Pakistani High Commission in New Delhi have been asked to leave, while the number of officials in Indian High Commission in Islamabad is also set to be nearly halved.
