WASHINGTON: Marjorie Taylor Greene — a US House of Representative member and staunch supporter of President Donald Trump — has joined those highlighting the Israeli atrocities in Gaza, calling these a genocide.
The change in global response is very much clear as the United Kingdom joined France to recognize the Palestinian state, although setting some conditions, at the upcoming United Nations General Assembly session in September.
It all started with French President Emmanuel Macron who announced that his country would formally recognise the Palestinian state at the United Nations General Assembly.

France and Saudi Arabia are currently co-chairing a conference at the UN to press ahead with the stalled two-state solution that got international recognition through the Oslo Accords.
Meanwhile, the US has described the gathering a “publicity stunt” while Trump says it is “pointless” exercise.
As far as Greene is concerned, she said in a post shared on X, “It’s the most truthful and easiest thing to say that Oct 7th in Israel was horrific and all hostages must be returned, but so is the genocide, humanitarian crisis, and starvation happening in Gaza.”
I remember the first time I met Randy Fine when he was a candidate before he barely won Florida’s deep red 6th district seat, as we were being told he might actually lose the seat because the strong Trump district couldn’t relate to him and didn’t like him.

She blasted a fellow Republican Randy Fine who had said, “Release the hostages. Until then starve away”.
Greene said that “a Jewish US Representative calling for the continued starvation of innocent people and children is disgraceful. His awful statement will actually cause more antisemitism.”
Meanwhile, even AIPAC — the representative body Jewish, which lobbies for Israel in the US and funds both Republican and Democrat candidates — has dissociated itself from Fine. He is now removed the list of endorsed candidates.
