OTTAWA: Canada intends to recognise a Palestinian state at the United Nations in September, Prime Minister Mark Carney said on Wednesday.
Carney told reporters that the planned move was predicated on the Palestinian Authority’s commitment to reforms, including commitments to fundamentally reform its governance and to hold general elections in 2026 in which Hamas can play no part.

In recent days, several Western states agreed to recognise the Palestinian state, including the UK and France, much to the United States’ and Israel’s fury. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu parroted the similar mantra of making Hamas ‘stronger’.
Israel’s atrocities in Gaza have amounted of genocide, as per Amnesty International report. Over 60,000, including defenceless women and children, have been brutally slaughtered by Israeli military. Thousands were killed in recent weeks while lining of for aid distribution, where Israeli military opened fired.
