The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast rain, strong winds and snowfall in various parts of the country over the coming days.
According to the PMD, cloudy weather with rain, thunderstorms and snowfall over hills is expected in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, northeast Punjab, the Potohar region, Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir. Hailstorms are also likely at a few places in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, northeast Punjab and the Potohar region. Dry weather is expected to prevail in most central and southern parts of the country.
The department warned of possible landslides and damage to weak infrastructure in hilly areas due to heavy rain, hail and thunderstorms.
In Islamabad and nearby areas, rain with thunder and lightning is likely, while showers are also expected in Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum, Mangla, Chakwal, Talagang, Mianwali, Khushab, Sargodha, Wazirabad, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Sialkot, Lahore, Narowal, Kasur, Sheikhupura and surrounding regions.
Rain is also forecast in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Malam Jabba, Kalam, Abbottabad, Peshawar, Mansehra, Haripur, Battagram, Swabi, Mardan, Nowshera, Charsadda, Kohat, Hangu, Karak, Bajaur, Khyber, Orakzai and Kurram, while a few places in Waziristan may experience rain with strong winds and thunderstorms.
In Sindh and Balochistan, mostly dry and cold weather is expected. Gilgit-Baltistan is likely to experience rain and thunderstorms, while rain and snowfall are expected in Azad Kashmir.
During the past 24 hours, most parts of the country remained dry, with cold conditions in hilly areas. However, Mithi received 22 millimetres of rainfall, while smog persisted in several districts of Punjab.
