Meezan Bank launches Pakistan’s first Visa Global eSIM – HUM News


KARACHI: Meezan Bank has become the first bank in Pakistan to launch the Visa Global eSIM for its Visa Infinite Debit Cardholders, offering seamless international data connectivity without the need for physical SIM swaps.

According to a statement issued by the bank, the Visa Global eSIM, a digital innovation by Visa, enables travellers to instantly switch mobile carriers and activate international data plans from their devices in over 150 countries.

As part of the launch, eligible Meezan Visa Infinite customers will receive 3GB of complimentary high-speed data for 21 days, along with a 25 per cent discount on additional top-ups.

“With this first-of-its-kind lifestyle benefit, our customers can avoid the hassle of buying local SIMs or relying on insecure Wi-Fi when travelling,” said Syed Iftikhar ul Haq, Group Head Consumer Finance at Meezan Bank. “This offering enhances convenience and security for our premium cardholders.”

Visa’s Country Manager for Pakistan and Afghanistan, Umar Khan, said the partnership reflects growing demand for secure global connectivity. “With mobile data usage having surged more than sevenfold since 2018, the Visa Global eSIM offers a reliable solution for travellers to stay digitally connected without the risks of public networks,” he noted.

The eSIM solution is backed by Visa’s global infrastructure and offers broad compatibility with modern smartphones. The service reinforces Meezan Bank’s position as a market leader in Islamic banking innovation and its commitment to enhancing customer experience through tech-driven solutions.

The statement further added that Meezan Bank’s introduction of the Visa Global eSIM for its Visa Infinite Debit Cardholders brings a range of practical benefits for international travelers. By eliminating the need for physical SIM cards, this solution allows users to activate international data plans directly on their devices, providing instant and seamless connectivity upon arrival in over 150 countries.
