ISLAMABAD: China-owned smartphone brand Honor, known for its range of AI-powered tablets, wearables, and smartphones, is set to unveil its “Robot Phone” featuring a pop-up camera and gimbal system at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona in March 2026, the phone industry said on Wednesday.

This “Robot Phone” will be the first of its kind from the former Huawei subsidiary, with the company confirming that additional AI features integrated into the device will be revealed at the MWC showcase.

Earlier in the day, the China-based company released a promotional video teasing the Robot Phone brand, highlighting a camera module capable of tracking subject movement for the first time in its lineup.

The 12-year-old firm said that more details about the upcoming device would be disclosed during the expo itself, as the promotional footage shared from Shenzhen did not reveal specific technical specifications.

Honor was originally launched by Huawei in 2013, but was later sold in 2020 to Shenzhen Zhixin New Information Technology Co., Ltd., making it an independent company since then.

Under its current CEO James Li Jian, appointed in January 2025, the company is pursuing a five-year, US $10 billion investment plan aimed at transforming Honor from a smartphone maker into a comprehensive AI ecosystem brand.

Meanwhile, Honor continues to expand its AI-driven product portfolio to compete with industry giants such as Samsung, which still dominates much of the global tech space. The company has also strengthened its commitment to long-term software support, promising seven years of OS updates across its flagship devices.
