COLOGNE: After years of eagerly waiting and limited information, “Hollow Knight: Silksong” is set to make its public debut in playable form this August at the Gamescom in Cologne, Germany.
The announcement marks the first opportunity for the public to experienced the sequel to the widely acclaimed metroidvania game since its initial reveal six years ago.

The demo for Hollow Knight: Silksong will be playable on the ROG Xbox Ally and RO Xbox Ally X handheld devices. Earlier speculation linked the game’s release to the launch of those consoles, but the game’s developer, Team Cherry, confirmed the title will not be exclusive to any platform and is expected before the end of 2025.
Despite the game’s ties to Nintendo, including previous showcases during E3 2019 and teaser appearances in Nintendo Switch hardware announcements, the game was absent from the latest Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase, drawing some disappointment from fans.
Online, fans expressed a mix of apprehension and frustration regarding the long wait and limited updates on the game’s progress. Some have called for more frequent direct communication from the developers.
The upcoming demo is expected to offer insights into the new gameplay features, environments, bosses and mechanics; continuing the style of its predecessor. Hollow Knight: Silksong will run on both, Windows PC and designated handheld devices.

While no official lease date was confirmed even now, observers expect the possibly of an announcement later this year, potentially during a Nintendo Direct event.
