CUPERTINO: Apple has started rolling out iOS 18.6 to iPhone users worldwide, bringing a handful of important bug fixes and security improvements. Although much of the attention remains on the upcoming iOS 26, this latest update has been in quiet testing for nearly six weeks.
To install iOS 18.6, users can head to their iPhone’s Settings app, tap General, then select Software Update. If the update doesn’t show up immediately, it may take a few hours to appear, depending on regional rollout. The build number for this release is 22G86.
According to Apple’s release notes, iOS 18.6 addresses an issue in the Photos app that was preventing memory movies from being shared. The update also brings a range of security patches aimed at improving the overall stability and safety of the device.
In addition, users in the European Union will notice some changes to the App Store experience. iOS 18.6 and iPadOS 18.6 now offer a revised interface for installing apps from a developer’s website and for accessing alternative app marketplaces, part of Apple’s compliance with the EU’s evolving digital regulations.
Apple is expected to publish more detailed information about the security fixes included in this update on its website later today.
