The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) revealed its playing XI for the third ODI against South Africa on Sunday, featuring uncapped left-arm spinner Sufiyan Muqeem.
The Green Shirts, who lead the three-match series 2-0, made three changes to their lineup ahead of the match. Middle-order batter Tayyab Tahir, pacer Mohammad Hasnain, and emerging spinner Sufiyan Muqeem replaced Muhammad Irfan Khan, Haris Rauf, and Abrar Ahmed, respectively.
Sufiyan earned his spot in the playing XI following outstanding performances in the recent T20I series against Zimbabwe, where he recorded remarkable bowling figures of 5/3.
This move is part of PCB’s strategy to provide opportunities to emerging talent and rotate players for a balanced team.
Despite getting out for ducks in the first two ODIs, right-handed opener Abdullah Shafique retained his place in the lineup and will open the innings alongside the in-form Saim Ayub, with Babar Azam following. The middle-order includes skipper Mohammad Rizwan, Kamran Ghulam, Salman Ali Agha, and returning Tayyab Tahir.
Shaheen Shah Afridi will lead Pakistan’s bowling attack, supported by Naseem Shah, Mohammad Hasnain, and Sufiyan Muqeem. The team is set to continue their strong performance as they aim for a 3-0 series win.
