Sindh Green and Punjab win inaugural U22 Inter-Provincial boxing championship


Karachi: The Sindh Green team clinched the boys’ title at the first-ever three-day Inter-Provincial Under-22 Boxing Championship held at the KPT Sports Complex. In the girls’ competition, Punjab was crowned the champion after Sindh voluntarily withdrew.

In the boys’ category, Sindh Green topped the medal tally with three gold and two bronze medals. Balochistan secured the second position with one gold, two silver, and three bronze medals, while Khyber Pakhtunkhwa came in third with one gold and three silver medals.

The girls’ competition saw a tie between Sindh Green and Punjab, as both teams had won one gold and one silver medal. However, the host Sindh team withdrew from the championship, granting the title to Punjab. Balochistan finished in third place.

The finals of the tournament featured a series of exciting bouts. In the boys’ competition, Umar (Sindh Whites) defeated Amanullah (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa) in the 50kg final, while Sameer (Sindh Green) and Naveed Ashraf (Sindh Green) won their 55kg and 60kg bouts, respectively.

Rafiullah (Balochistan) won the 70kg final, and Mujahid (Sindh Green) secured a walkover victory in the 65kg category. For the girls, Uzwa Khurram (Punjab) won the 48kg event, Shehla (Sindh Green) won the 51kg final, and Afra (Punjab) was victorious in the 54kg bout.

The closing ceremony was attended by Chief Guest Rear Admiral Atiqur Rehman Abid, Chairman of KPT, who distributed the awards and trophies to the winning teams and athletes.
