KARACHI: Marking a significant milestone in the nation’s sporting evolution, Pakistan will host its first-ever international Padel tournament the APPT Grand Slam at Legends Arena, Karachi, from October 30 to November 2.
Held in collaboration with McDonald’s Pakistan, the event will unite top-ranked athletes from across Asia in a high-stakes competition for a $13,000 prize purse. The tournament not only reflects the sport’s fast-growing popularity in Pakistan but also positions the country as an emerging destination on the international Padel circuit.
The official launch ceremony took place at the McDonald’s Clifton Sea View outlet and was attended by squash legend and Chairman of Legends Arena, Jahangir Khan.
Speaking at the event, Khan expressed his appreciation to McDonald’s Pakistan for its support and sponsorship, highlighting the rapid rise of Padel in the country over the past two years. He noted that hosting an international event of this scale would further solidify the sport’s presence and open new opportunities for local talent.
“I’m proud to bring the Asia Pacific Padel Tour (APPT) Grand Slam to Karachi. This tournament marks a major milestone for Padel in Pakistan,” said Jahangir Khan.
Jameel Mughal, Managing Director of McDonald’s Pakistan, reiterated the company’s commitment to promoting sports and positive community engagement.
He emphasized that partnering with Legends Arena to launch Pakistan’s first international Padel tournament reflects McDonald’s ongoing efforts to support youth development and healthy lifestyles.
“Alongside Jahangir Khan, we aim to strengthen Padel’s foundation in Pakistan and continue contributing to the growth of sports across the nation,” Mughal added.
