Pakistan’s left-arm spinner, Noman Ali, has been awarded the ICC Men’s Player of the Month for October 2024, in recognition of his outstanding performance during Pakistan’s 2-1 Test series victory over England in the ICC World Test Championship. His consistent bowling throughout the series earned him 20 wickets at an impressive average of 13.85, playing a key role in Pakistan’s success.
Noman’s achievements in the series surpassed those of other nominees, including South Africa’s Kagiso Rabada and New Zealand’s Mitchell Santner. This award marks the first time a Pakistani player has won the monthly honor since Babar Azam in August of the previous year.
Reflecting on the award, Noman expressed his appreciation for his teammates and the collective effort that contributed to the series win. “I am delighted to be named the ICC Men’s Player of the Month and deeply grateful to my teammates who supported me in delivering my best. It’s always an honor to be part of memorable wins for Pakistan,” he shared.
The 37-year-old spinner showcased his skills in two standout Test matches. In the second Test, his remarkable 8/46 helped Pakistan defend a target of 297, securing their first home Test victory since 2021. This performance turned the tide after an initial series loss, showing Noman’s resilience under pressure.
In the series finale in Rawalpindi, Noman continued to excel, contributing a valuable 45 runs at No. 9 and later taking six wickets to dismiss England for 112, sealing a nine-wicket win for Pakistan.
Noman Ali’s ICC Men’s Player of the Month award is a fitting recognition of his contributions, as his efforts helped restore Pakistan’s dominance in Test cricket on home soil.
