Mohsin Naqvi celebrates Pakistan’s successful hosting of CT, gets trolled on X | The Express Tribune

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has hailed Pakistan’s successful hosting of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, marking a major milestone in the nation’s cricketing history.

The tournament’s smooth execution reinforced Pakistan’s ability to organize high-profile international events.

In a message on X, Naqvi extended his gratitude to all stakeholders who contributed to the tournament’s success.”I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated PCB team, the vigilant law enforcement agencies, the supportive provincial governments, the esteemed ICC officials, and all the phenomenal participating cricket teams that traveled to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy 2025,” Naqvi stated.

He emphasised Pakistan’s pride in hosting the prestigious tournament, calling it a historic moment for cricket fans worldwide. The success of the event is expected to strengthen Pakistan’s reputation as a reliable host for future global competitions.

On the field, India defeated New Zealand by four wickets in the final at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium to secure their third Champions Trophy title. Rohit Sharma led India’s chase of 252, finishing the match with a match-winning half-century.

India previously won the Champions Trophy in 2002 and 2013.

In response to Naqvi’s post, many fans took to X to criticise the PCB chairman regarding Pakistan’s lackluster display in the tournament.

Many fans noted that, under Naqvi’s leadership, many appointments were made which were not meritocratic in nature.
