Karachi: Preparations are in full swing for the 35th National Games, set to take place in Karachi from December 6 to 13. In this regard, a high-level meeting was held under the chairmanship of Sindh Sports Minister Sardar Muhammad Bakhsh Mehr, where important decisions were made to finalize arrangements for the prestigious multi-sport event.
The meeting, attended by Secretary of Sports Munawar Ali Mahesar, Director Asad Ishaq, Sindh Olympic Association General Secretary Ahmed Ali Rajput, and other officials, approved the design for the athletes’ and officials’ kits, the official logo, and a draft plan. The final approval will be sought from the Chief Minister of Sindh.
Sports Minister Mehr announced that a torch relay would be held before the games’ inauguration, which will be performed by Pakistan People’s Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. District Sports Officers will be part of the selection committee for the athletes.
According to Ahmed Ali Rajput, the Sindh Olympic Association’s General Secretary, over 1,000 gold and silver medals, as well as torches, a general trophy, shirts, and other awards, have been completed. Trials for the athletes are scheduled to be held from October 20 to 30.
Secretary of Sports Munawar Ali Mahesar confirmed that more than 700 male and female athletes from Sindh will participate in the games, along with over 1,500 athletes from other provinces.
