Pakistan batter Saim Ayub, who suffered an ankle injury during the second Test against South Africa, has shown significant improvement.

According to Dr. David Redfern in London, Saim’s ankle is healing well, and he is now able to bear weight on his leg.

Dr. Redfern stated that the test reports will be sent to the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) medical panel for further evaluation.

Saim Ayub, accompanied by assistant coach Azhar Mahmood, visited a London clinic yesterday for a second assessment of his ankle.

Azhar Mahmood expressed gratitude for the progress, saying, “Thank God, the situation has improved significantly. Whether surgery is needed and when it might happen will be determined by the medical panel. The examination report will be available soon.”

However, Dr Jeyaseelan recommended six months of complete rest for Ayub, with further consultations from a panel of specialists, who will assess additional reports, X-rays, and determine the next steps in his recovery plan.

While Ayub’s participation in the upcoming Champions Trophy remains uncertain, the final decision on his inclusion in the provisional squad will be made after additional consultations with medical specialists in London.

PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has been closely overseeing Ayub’s recovery, ensuring that he receives the highest level of care.

Naqvi expressed his full support for Ayub, calling him a “valuable asset” to Pakistan cricket, and confirmed that all necessary resources will be provided for his recovery.

He also wished Ayub a swift recovery and stated that he would remain in constant communication with the doctors handling his treatment.
