Bangladesh beat Afghanistan by 8 runs in Asia Cup 2025
In the ninth match of the tournament, Bangladesh set a target of 155 runs after scoring 154 for 5 in 20 overs. Tanjid Hasan led the batting with a solid 52 runs, while Saif Hasan added 30, and Towhid Hridoy scored 26. Shamim Hossain made 11, while Zakir Ali and Nurul Hasan contributed 12 runs each.
Afghanistan’s bowlers fought hard, with Rashid Khan and Noor Ahmad taking two wickets each, and Azmatullah Omarzai picking up one.
Chasing 155, Afghanistan fell just short, finishing at 146 all out in their 20 overs. Rahmanullah Gurbaz scored 35, Azmatullah Omarzai added 30, and captain Rashid Khan made 20. Gulbadin Naib scored 16, while Mohammad Nabi added 15 runs.
Bangladesh’s bowlers shone, with Mustafizur Rahman taking 3 wickets, while Nasum Ahmed, Taskin Ahmed, and Rishad Hossain claimed 2 wickets each.
With this win, Bangladesh claimed an important victory in their Asia Cup 2025 campaign.
