Azhar Mahmood appointed acting red-ball coach


LAHORE: Former Pakistan fast bowler Azhar Mahmood has been appointed as the acting red-ball coach of the national cricket team.

According to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), he will serve in this role until the completion of his current contract.

Azhar, who previously served as the assistant head coach, has been a key member of the team’s strategic core for an extended period and continues to play a significant role in shaping the squad’s direction in Test cricket.

Azhar Mahmood was not part of the management after Mike Hesson became head coach, Azhar Mahmood was not involved in the management in the home series against Bangladesh.

It should be noted that Azhar Mahmood has a contract with PCB till April 2026 and during this time Pakistan has to play two Test series.
