Poco F9 Pro and F9 Ultra Chipsets Officially Confirmed | Xiaomi Reveals
Poco has officially revealed the processors powering its upcoming Poco F9 Pro and Poco F9 Ultra, giving fans a clearer look at the company's next flagship smartphone lineup.
The two phones are scheduled to launch globally on September 1, 2026. The Poco F9 Ultra will feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, while the F9 Pro will use Qualcomm's newer Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 V-series.
Poco F9 Ultra Gets Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5
The Poco F9 Ultra will be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5.
The processor was already spotted in an earlier benchmark listing, but Poco has now officially confirmed its use in the upcoming phone.
Interestingly, the chipset means the F9 Ultra will not receive a major processor upgrade over the previous generation if the earlier Poco F8 Ultra also uses the same platform.
The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 remains a high-end 3nm mobile processor based on Qualcomm's Oryon CPU architecture and paired with Adreno graphics.
Poco F9 Pro Uses Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 V-Series
The Poco F9 Pro gets the more unusual chipset of the two.
Instead of the standard Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, Poco has selected Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 V-series, identified as SM8850-1-AB.
The V-series is designed around the same flagship CPU family but uses a smaller GPU configuration. Its Adreno 840 graphics processor reportedly has eight compute units instead of 12, while the on-chip graphics memory is reduced from 18MB to 12MB.
The GPU is still clocked at 1.2 GHz, while the CPU retains many of the performance characteristics of the full Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5.
F9 Pro Could See a Bigger Performance Upgrade
The choice of processor could make the Poco F9 Pro one of the more interesting upgrades in the lineup. The previous Poco F8 Pro used the Snapdragon 8 Elite, while the new F9 Pro moves to the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 V-series. This represents a newer generation of Qualcomm's flagship platform.
The reduced GPU configuration means the V-series is positioned below the full Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, but it still offers a powerful CPU aimed at high-end smartphone performance.
Poco F9 Series Launch Date
Poco has confirmed that the Poco F9 series will launch globally on September 1, 2026.
The company has already shown the Aurora Green Poco F9 Pro and Dark Cherry Poco F9 Ultra ahead of the launch.
More details, including pricing, complete specifications and regional availability, are expected to be announced during the official launch event.
