LAHORE: At a ceremony held at the Chief Minister’s Office in Lahore to honour the top position holders in recent examinations, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz declared that the government will provide laptops to youth instead of “sticks and stones.”
At the event, for the first time, the parents and teachers of the top position holders were also invited.
Speaking at the event, CM Maryam praised the students for bringing pride to their parents and teachers through their hard work and dedication.
During her address, she highlighted the contribution of Shehbaz Sharif, who initiated the laptop scheme in 2011. “The Punjab government continues this legacy by providing laptops to outstanding students, reinforcing our commitment to supporting education,” she said.
CM Maryam extended her congratulations to the parents of the position holders, acknowledging their efforts and sacrifices. “Parents are working tirelessly, doing jobs and labour to educate their children. If we continue to invest in our children’s education, they can make Pakistan proud on the global stage,” she added.
Reflecting on her own experiences, CM Maryam remarked, “I have faced imprisonment and numerous cases, but I never shed a tear. However, seeing these students receive a Guard of Honour brought tears to my eyes.”
The Chief Minister also emphasised that education and healthcare are top priorities. “We will ensure that students from nursery to class 5 receive milk as part of our commitment to their well-being,” she concluded.
The event celebrated the hard work and achievements of the students and recognised the ongoing efforts by the Punjab government to support education in the province.
