Woman booked for publicly abusing biker in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: Police have registered an FIR against a woman whose video went viral a few days ago, showing her publicly assaulting and hurling abuses at a bike rider in Islamabad.

According to a complaint filed at the G-7 police station by Shakeel Ahmed, the incident occurred outside the Federal Polyclinic Hospital on January 17.

Shakeel said he works for a private organisation and was on his way home after work when the incident occurred.

“I was riding my bike slowly near Polyclinic Hospital due to traffic congestion when a car hit me from behind. The first time, I was unharmed, but then she hit me again, making me move aside. When I completely pulled over, she hit me a third time, causing my bike to fall.”

He added that when he confronted the driver by tapping the car’s bonnet, she stepped out and physically attacked him.

“She threatened me, saying she would send me somewhere I wouldn’t even know where I ended up,” he claimed.

The complainant alleged that the woman verbally and physically assaulted him, and continued to hit him despite the presence of several onlookers. “She did not stop assaulting me and even issued life threats using offensive language,” he added.

One of the eye-witnesses recorded the incident and posted it to the social media. The video went viral within hours with people condemning the woman’s conduct as she was seen hurling abuses on the biker and trying to hit him in the face.

Shakeel has requested legal action against the unidentified woman, accusing her of reckless and dangerous driving, endangering his life.

Following his complaint, a case has been registered at the Women’s Police Station in Islamabad.
