Who is Imran Khan to demand open trial of Faiz Hameed? security sources question – HUM News

ISLAMABAD: Security sources have reacted strongly to the demand by PTI founder and chief, Imran Khan, for an open trial of a former spy chief Faiz Hameed.

The former prime minister’s remarks, made during an informal discussion with journalists at Adiala Jail, have sparked criticism from security circles.

In response, security sources questioned Imran Khan’s authority to demand an open trial for Lt Gen (retd) Faiz Hameed. “Who is the founding chairman to decide whether Faiz Hameed’s trial should be open or not?” the sources asked.

The sources further assured that if Imran Khan himself faces trial in connection with the ongoing case, it will be conducted transparently. “If the founding chairman is tried in this case, rest assured, it will be an open trial,” the security sources emphasized.

Additionally, the sources pointedly commented on Imran Khan’s recent actions and past behavior, hinting that the PTI founder’s activities are widely known. “The whole world will then see what the founding chairman has been doing and is currently involved in,” they added.

Imran Khan calls for open trial of former spy chief

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan has called for an open court trial of retired Gen Faiz Hameed.

In an informal discussion with journalists, Imran Khan stated that he demanded that the trial of retired Gen Faiz Hameed be conducted in an open court.

He argued that the issue between Gen Faiz and himself was not an internal military matter.

“General Faiz became insignificant after retirement. How could he benefit me in any way?” he questioned, dismissing the notion that he maintains contact with the former DG ISI.

The former premier further emphasised that if Gen (retd) Faiz is indeed the mastermind behind the May 9 conspiracy, then the trial should be held openly. He added that the incident was a local issue rather than a matter of national security.

Imran expressed concern that subjecting him to a military trial would damage Pakistan’s global image, reiterating his belief that the matter should be resolved in a civil court, not a military one, as it concerns a civilian leader, not the army’s internal operations.
