Weather today: Heavy rainfall to plague Karachi, Hyderabad – HUM News

KARACHI: A robust monsoon system approaching from the Kuch and Tharparkar regions is expected to reach Karachi and Hyderabad today, prompting warnings for residents along the coastal belt. Heavy rain, accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms, is anticipated in Karachi, Hyderabad, and surrounding districts on Thursday afternoon.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department forecasts that Karachi could receive between 150 to 200 mm of rain over the next three days. Intermittent rainfall is expected across various areas of Sindh, including Karachi, until August 31, with the potential for heavy downpours in certain locations.

In response to the anticipated weather conditions, schools in Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas, Sajawal, Badin, Tandwalayar, and Sanghar will remain closed tomorrow. However, a previous notification regarding school closures in central Karachi has been rescinded, and all schools in the city will remain open.

Residents are advised to remain vigilant as the monsoon system approaches, with the potential for significant weather impacts in the region.
