Violence against investors not to be tolerated: Talal Chaudhry – HUM News

FAISALABAD: Minister of State for Interior, Talal Chaudhry, condemning the recent attacks on an international fast food chain across Pakistan, has said that any acts of violence against the investors will not be tolerated.

Speaking to the media, he said around 20 incidents of violence were reported at private restaurants nationwide, adding that 12 FIRs had been registered in connection with the attacks.

“It is the state’s duty to protect the lives and property of businessmen,” he stated, while warning that those involved in the violence would face strict action.

Chaudhry emphasised that attacking businesses is un-Islamic and violates Pakistan’s constitution.

“We feel sorry when Pakistanis ignore both religion and the law,” he said, adding that 142 people have been arrested in Punjab and 15 more in Islamabad.

He also confirmed that one man from Sheikhupura lost his life due to the violence.

Talal said that the attackers later started apologising after being arrested, expressing regret over their actions.

He warned that those who disrupt peace under emotional influence must understand the consequences.

“It is unacceptable that those investing in Pakistan face such violence,” Chaudhry said.

He added that around 25,000 Pakistanis work at this fast food chain, which also pays 100% taxes in the country.

Lastly, he noted that all political and religious parties have distanced themselves from these incidents.
