Two Congo Virus Patients Admitted to Quetta Hospital – HUM News


QUETTA: Two patients diagnosed with Congo virus have been admitted to the isolation ward at Fatima Jinnah Institute of Chest Diseases, Quetta.

Officials at Fatima Jinnah Chest Hospital in Quetta, the only facility that treats Congo virus patients in Balochistan, said, a 40-year-old female patient hailing from Musakhel and another patient from Kuchlak have tested positive for the Virus.

After the confirmation, both patients have been admitted to the isolation ward for further treatment.

So far this year, 30 cases of Congo virus have been reported in Quetta, with six patients succumbing to the disease.

The Congo virus is a highly contagious disease transmitted by ticks and contact with infected animals. Outbreaks require swift action to prevent further spread. It leads to severe symptoms and can be fatal if not treated promptly, particularly in endemic regions such as parts of Africa, the Middle East, and Asia.
