ATTOCK: At least two children have been killed and five were injured after gunmen opened fire at a school van in Attock on Thursday.
The driver of the van along with five children between five to 10 years old have been injured in the gun attack, according to rescue sources.
They have been shifted to the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital for treatment, they added.
The initial investigation suggests the gunmen targeted the van due to a personal enmity with the driver, Attock District Police Officer (DPO) Sardar Ghayas Gul said.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz expressed deep sorrow over the incident, directing the Rawalpindi commissioner to submit a report immediately. She also instructed that the injured be provided with the best possible medical care.
Meanwhile, Inspector General (IG) Punjab Dr Usman Anwar took notice of the attack and has sought a report from the Regional Police Officer (RPO) Rawalpindi. He directed the Attock DPO to reach the scene immediately and ensure the swift arrest of those responsible.
