WEB DESK: Widespread rain, gusty winds, and thunderstorms are forecast for several regions of Pakistan today, with some areas likely to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall. The weather may disrupt daily activities and increase the risk of flooding in vulnerable areas.

Going region by region, rain with strong winds and thunderstorms is expected at most places across Sindh, including Karachi, Hyderabad, Larkana, Sukkur, Mirpurkhas, and Tharparkar. Some locations may receive heavy to very heavy rainfall. Similar conditions are forecast across northeastern and southern Balochistan, affecting areas such as Quetta, Zhob, Khuzdar, Gwadar, and Lasbela.
Rain and gusty winds are expected in southern and central Punjab, particularly in Multan, Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Dera Ghazi Khan, and surrounding areas. Heavy to very heavy rain may occur at a few locations. In northeastern Punjab, including Lahore, Rawalpindi, Sialkot, and Faisalabad, partly cloudy weather with rain and thunderstorms is likely at some places.
Most districts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will remain partly cloudy, with rain, strong winds, and thunderstorms expected in areas such as Swat, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Kohat, and Dera Ismail Khan.
In Islamabad and nearby areas, partly cloudy weather is expected with chances of rain and thunderstorms at a few locations. Kashmir is likely to experience similar weather, with gusty winds and thundershowers at scattered places.
ALERTS ISSUED
Heavy rain during the night and throughout the day raises the risk of urban flooding in low-lying and coastal areas of Sindh, including Karachi, Thatta, Badin, Sujawal, and Hyderabad. The water level in Hub Dam may rise, said the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).
Flooding may occur in local rivers in Dera Ghazi Khan, eastern and southern Balochistan, and the Kirthar mountain range region, including Dadu and Garinwah.

Strong winds and thunderstorms may damage weak infrastructure such as kutcha houses, electric poles, billboards, and vehicles. Disruptions to travel and daily activities are also expected.
Travelers and tourists are advised to plan according to weather forecasts and exercise caution in affected areas.
