Toshakhana-II: Imran, Bushra’s counsel testifies prosecution witnesses – HUM News

ISLAMABAD: The Special Central Court on Monday continued proceedings in the Toshakhana-II case against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi.

According to the details, the counsel for the couple, Qausain Faisal Mufti, cross-examined two prosecution witnesses, Muhammad Faheem and Umar Siddique.

The former prime minister and the former first lady were also present in the court room during the hearing.

Following the cross-examination, the court adjourned the hearing until February 10.

The Toshakhana-II case involves allegations against the couple of unlawfully retaining and selling 10 expensive Toshakhana gifts, including seven luxury watches.

On January 28, Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi had filed a request with the Islamabad High Court (IHC) for the transfer of their acquittal plea in the case to another bench.

Their counsel argued, “Khawar Manika filed an appeal against the acquittal of the PTI founder in the iddat case, and on the same grounds, the case was transferred to another bench. There are many senior judges in the Islamabad High Court, and I am acting on my client’s instructions.”

However, the court rejected their request to immediately transfer the case to another bench. Justice Raja Inam Amin Minhas directed their counsel to provide further assistance, while Khan and Bushra Bibi had raised objections to the bench of Justice Raja Inam Amin Minhas.

Previously, on November 14, Special Central Judge Shahrukh Arjumand dismissed acquittal pleas filed by Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi in the case. The trial court rejected the requests after hearing arguments from both sides.

The Toshakhana-II case was filed by National Accountability Bureau (NAB). The couple was arrested in the case on July 13 shortly after getting a bail in the unlawful marriage case.

The case was transferred to The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) following amendments to NAB laws, which formed a joint investigation team (JIT) on September 12, 2024, to probe the case.
