GILGIT: At least three persons of a family were killed while three others are missing as a car which they were boarding on fell into a deep ravine in Nager district of Gilgit-Baltistan on Saturday night.
According to Rescue 1122, the car, which had seven people on board, was returning from a wedding ceremony when the incident occurred near Bardas area of Chalt Nagar.
The deceased individuals have been identified as Ghulam Abbas, Sher Baz Ali, and Zohaib, son of Ismail, all residents of Chalt Bala. One person, Kashif Hussain, son of Sher Baz, has been injured and hospitalised.
A rescue operation is currently underway to locate the three missing individuals: Muhammad Hussain, son of Ali Muhammad (the driver); Sharafat Hussain, son of Sher Baz; and Aleem, son of Mir Baz, all residents of Chalt Bala. Rescue teams, police, and local volunteers are working together to search for the missing persons.
In a statement, G-B Government spokesperson Faizullah Faraq said that the Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister Haji Gulbar Khan has taken notice of the incident and directed the Secretary Home and all relevant departments to utilise all resources to search for the missing individuals.
The Chief Minister has instructed rescue teams to expedite the search operation. Rescue teams reached the site, where one injured person has been hospitalised, and two bodies have been recovered.

TOURIST FALLS TO DEATH GLIGIT STREAM
In a separate incident in Sunday, a tourist named Adeel Jan, aged 35-40, from Shikarpur, Sindh, fell into a stream while taking pictures near the stream’s edge in Jaglot area of Gilgit.
According to Gilgit police, he fell approximately 500 feet down into the stream.
Local residents and Jaglot police responded promptly, rescuing him and rushing him to Civil Hospital Jaglot in critical condition. Despite medical efforts to save his life, he unfortunately succumbed to his injuries. The deceased’s body will be sent to his hometown, Shikarpur (Sindh), soon.
