Terrorism, water to be basic part of any Pakistan-India talks: PM – HUM News

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday said the issues of Kashmir, water, trade and terrorism would be on agenda, whenever Pakistan-India talks were to be held.

Islamabad would ensure that Pakistan gets the rightful share of water under the Indus Waters Treaty, Shehbaz made it clear.

Talking to a group of journalists in Islamabad, the prime minister said Pakistan was ready if any third country would want to play the role of a mediator.

War results in the victory of one party and defeat of the other, he remarked. However, war isn’t a long-term solution, Shehbaz said, adding that only sustainable would guarantee a safe future.

At the same time, he asserted that Pakistan and India were returning to the position of peace.

ISRAEL IS SUPPORTING INDIA

During the discussion, the prime minister formally confirmed Israel’s role in the region.

He said Israel provided full support India in the recent conflict. The Indian side used Israeli weapons in Srinagar and other areas against Pakistan, the prime minister revealed.

Meanwhile, Shehbaz cited the tragic Khuzdar bombing, in which the terrorists targeted the innocent school-going children, and promised to root out terrorism from Pakistan.

NEW DELHI WASN’T EXPECTING A RESPONSE

The prime minister said India did not expect that Pakistan would give any response to the aggression. However, a swift response made them realize the reality, he remarked.

Last week, Shehbaz had said India’s dream of acting as ‘a cop in the region’ had been shattered, as he asked Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to check his actions.

Addressing Modi, Shehbaz warned him against violating the Indus Waters Treaty and repeated the earlier offer to hold an impartial investigation into the Pahalgam attack.

The prime minister said Pakistan stood for regional peace, not acting as a cop. He said the Modi government opted for attacking Pakistan cowardly instead of going for investigating the Pahalgam through an international commission.

Shehbaz said Modi should keep his sermons to himself and the TTP, BLA and other terrorist outfits were clearly linked to India.

“Pakistan stands for peace. We want peace and development,” the prime minister stressed. At the same time, he said Pakistan’s desire for peace should not be equated with weakness.
