ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister of Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar said Saturday that the verdict handed to 25 perpetrators in the May 9 cases by military courts shows the state’s commitment to bringing mastermind and planners before justice.
The military courts have sentenced 25 perpetrators for their involvement in the May 9 violence and arson, according to the ISPR. The Supreme Court’s constitutional bench had earlier conditionally allowed military courts to hand the reserved verdicts of 85 civilians who were still in custody for their role in the violence.
Addressing a crowd of supporters, Tarar said, “By attacking the Corps Commander’s House, the miscreants strengthened the hands of the enemy.” He added that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) promoted a politics of violence, and that its founder Imran Khan has various cases against him, including that of corruption.
Referring to the violence and arson on May 9, the minister said that the attacks were carried out on military establishments: ”Today, 25 accused in the May 9 cases have been sentenced to their punishments. Similarly, the May 9 mastermind must also be punished.”
Thanking the people before him, Tarar said that he was deeply grateful for their love and affection.

“We do not belong to a group that forgets kindness, rather we remember all those who have done us favours. The fulfillment of our promises has begun.” he said, adding that the government was well-aware of the difficulties faced by the common people and that the inflation rate was decreasing as a result of massive investments in dollars.
Tarrar echoed the sentiments shared by the ISPR earlier today pertaining to the verdict handed to 25 perpetrators. The military media wing had stated that justice will ‘truly be served’ once mastermind and planners, who incited violence and arson are punished.
Terming the May 9 incidents as ‘dark chapter’ in the history of Pakistan, the ISPR said politically orchestrated attacks were carried out on the installations of the armed forces including the desecration of the monuments of Shuhada.
It also expressed the determination that “Pakistan will continue to vigorously pursue dispensation of justice to ensure the establishment of the inviolable writ of the state, so as to uproot this evil of violence-driven disruptive and destructive politics based on hate, divisiveness and baseless propaganda”.
