Six children injured as school van catches fire in Karachi – HUM News

WEB DESK: Six children were injured on Monday morning after a school van caught fire near Quba Mosque in Karachi’s Nazimabad area, police and rescue officials said.

According to initial reports, the blaze was caused by an electrical short circuit inside the vehicle. Rescue teams arrived at the scene shortly after the incident and shifted the injured to nearby hospitals in Edhi ambulances.

Police officials confirmed that three of the children sustained minor burns and were taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where they were later discharged after receiving first aid. The other three, who suffered more serious injuries, were transferred to the Burns Ward of Civil Hospital Karachi for further treatment.

Medical Superintendent of Civil Hospital Dr Khalid Bukhari said that one of the injured, nine-year-old Aishal, is under treatment in the burns unit with approximately 15 percent burns. He added that the van driver was not admitted to the hospital’s burns ward.

Police said a detailed investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the fire. The vehicle has been taken into custody for forensic examination.
