KARACHI: The Sindh Education Department has taken a firm stance against absenteeism among teachers, announcing the suspension of 6,342 educators who have failed to report for duty.
In a move to enforce accountability, the department plans to block the official IDs of these absent teachers and initiate disciplinary proceedings against them.
A letter from the department outlines the procedure to be followed before any action is taken. Teachers identified as absentee will first be issued a notice by their respective District Education Officer (DEO), requiring them to appear before a committee.
This committee, led by the Chief Monitoring Officer, includes the DEO and the Taluka Education Officer. Teachers must appear within three days of receiving the notice. Failure to comply will result in their IDs being blocked, and further disciplinary measures may be imposed.
The Directorate of Monitoring & Evaluation of the School Education & Literacy Department has issued instructions to the concerned officers.
They are required to send copies of the notices, committee decisions, and detailed reports to the directorate within three working days. Based on the rules regarding appointments, transfers, and postings, they have been directed to complete the process within a week and submit a final report.
