LAHORE: The Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) Cyber Crime Wing has booked PTI leader Dr. Shahbaz Gill and YouTuber Imran Riaz for their alleged involvement in a social media campaign targeting Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and the UAE President.
In addition, three other individuals have been arrested from Muzaffargarh, Faisalabad, and Lahore. Mohammad Nadeem Javed was arrested from Shalimar Scheme, Lahore, and is also named in the case against Shahbaz Gill and Imran Riaz. Mohammad Ijaz was arrested from Jatoi Tehsil in Muzaffargarh, while Amir Abbas was apprehended in Faisalabad.
According to FIA officials, the three detainees are accused of circulating fake videos of prominent national and international figures.

The agency also confirmed that Shahbaz Gill and Imran Riaz would be arrested soon.
A Combined Investigation Team (CIT), led by Additional Director Cyber Crime Ch. Sarfaraz, has been formed to oversee further investigations and arrests. The team includes deputy directors from Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Multan, and Lahore.
FIA officials have warned that the crackdown on those spreading fake news and videos will continue.
