Heavy rain was also reported in the areas of Bahria Enclave, Park View, Simly Dam Road, Kuri Road and Bara Kahu.
The showers brought down the temperature, creating a refreshing atmosphere for residents.
However, the rainfall also disrupted traffic flow at various points. Long queues of vehicles were seen on major roads, while motorcyclists took shelter under flyovers to escape the downpour.
According to the Meteorological Department, more rain is expected in Islamabad and adjoining areas in the coming days, which may further improve the weather conditions.
Meanwhile according to the Met office, rain-windstorm/thundershower is expected in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad, Pothohar region, northeast Punjab, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan during the next twelve hours.
Isolated heavyfalls/hailstorm may occur in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pothohar region, Kashmir and adjoining hilly areas during the period.
Hot and dry weather is likely to prevail over other parts of the country.
