LAHORE: Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaaf (PTI) has announced a country-wide protest on Friday (tomorrow) against the proposed constitutional amendment package, dubbing it a discriminatory treatment with its founder Imran Khan in jail.
“All regional and local organisations are instructed to hold vigorous but peaceful protests at all district headquarters after Friday prayers. Total agreement not to accept any attempt by the government to distort the Constitution through the constitutional amendment,” the party said in a statement.
The statement said that it was agreed that PTI will protest tomorrow to make every possible effort to block the way of constitutional amendment package in both houses of the parliament.
The party’s political committee demanded the release of Aleema Khanum and Uzma Khanum, sisters of PTI founder Imran Khan, advocate Intizar Hussain Panjotha, Azam Swati and all the arrested leaders, workers and members of parliament, including the president of Tehreek-e-Insaf Balochistan.

The PTI asked the regional organisations to hold a peaceful protest at the districts’ headquarters after Friday prayers.
The government’s attempt to distort the Constitution through the constitutional amendment is not acceptable, it said.
The statement said both houses of parliament have agreed to make every possible effort to block the way of amendment and demanded the release of Imran Khan.
