PSL 10 trophy unveiled; divers retrieved ‘Luminara’ from deep sea – HUM News

KARACHI: The trophy of the 10th edition of Pakistan Super League (PSL) has been unveiled in a unique and breath-taking manner in the Arabian Sea.

In the first-of-its-kind reveal, a professional diver, with the support of the Pakistan Navy, retrieved the trophy named ‘Luminara’ from the depths of the sea, as if unearthing a hidden treasure, before handing it over to PSL stakeholders.

A masterpiece of craftsmanship, Luminara is made from solid silver sheets, intricately designed with machine-set stones.

Weighing 10 kilograms, the trophy is adorned with 22,850 shimmering zircon stones, symbolising the talent, energy, and fierce competition that define the HBL PSL.

The grand ceremony was attended by the officials of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and Habib Bank Limited (HBL), franchise representatives, and cricketers in Karachi.

Speaking on the occasion, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi said the unveiling of ‘Luminara’ in the sea is a testament to the league’s innovation and commitment to excellence. “As we celebrate a decade of HBL PSL, this trophy symbolises the league’s shining legacy and its bright future.”

HBL PSL Chief Executive Officer Salman Naseer said HBL PSL has always set new benchmarks on and off the field. “Just as the sea holds great depth, HBL PSL has been a deep reservoir of talent, resilience, and sportsmanship. This unique unveiling represents the passion and dedication our players and fans bring to the game.”

The 10th edition of HBL PSL is set to take place from April 11 to May 18 across four cities—Karachi, Lahore, Multan, and Rawalpindi.

The opening match will feature defending champions Islamabad United taking on Lahore Qalandars at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.

Earlier in January, the International Cricket Council (ICC) had unveiled the Champions Trophy promo, which felt more like a heist movie trailer than a cricket promo.

Netizens believed the Champions Trophy promo – which features Pakistan’s Shaheen Afridi and Shadab Khan – took inspiration from an action film, depicting suspense, and stunts.
