KARACHI: Sky Wings Aviation company, based in Karachi, has announced to run air ambulance service for Parachinar. The continued lockdown of Kurram, Parachinar since October 13 has compounded the difficulties for the residents of the region. There is an alarming shortage of medicines, food and fuel in the violence struck district.
Before this, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur’s helicopter, Federal Cabinet’s helicopter, and Punjab Health Department’s helicopters are also being used to transport life-saving medicines and to transport critically ill patients from Parachinar to Peshawar and Rawalpindi. Edhi Foundation has also started the air ambulance service for Kurram, Parachinar.

The Sky Wings Aviation has will run the air ambulance service for Parachinar, starting immediately, Sky Wings Aviation CEO Imran Aslam Khan said on Thursday. “It has been decided to send two aircrafts to Parachinar immediately for the air ambulance service,” Khan said.
He requested the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) to immediately allow the flight operation of the air ambulance service for Parachinar.
Sharing the details of the air ambulance, he said that a Diamond DA 40 aircraft and another modern Piper Seneca aircraft have been allocated for the air operations of Parachinar. The modern Piper Seneca aircraft was imported for the air ambulance service of Punjab’s Rescue 1122 service, he added. The CAA is currently inspecting the aircraft, he informed.
He also appreciated the services of Edhi Foundation’s services for Parachinar.
UNREST PERSISTS IN KURRAM UNABATED
The law and order situation in the Kurram district has not improved even after more than two months. All traffic routes are still closed, adding to the plight of the already distressed citizens. The essential commodities remain unavailable, and now it is also becoming difficult for people to obtain two meals a day.
Edhi Foundation resources told media that 60 children have died in hospitals due to non-availability of medicines. Public transport has also been shut down for the last 25 days due to non-availability of fuel.

The locals have come out to protest, and have staged a sit-in outside the Kurram Press Club despite extremely cold weather. A large number of people, belonging to different walks of life are participating in the sit-in, including children and senior citizens.
Tehsil Chairman Agha Muzammil Hussain said that the sit-in will continue until the region is made secure for the people.
Meanwhile, the official Grand Jirga and elders of local tribes will go to Kohat once again today and try to reach a solution for lasting peace and order.
