KARACHI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir emphasising the importance of prioritising national interests over personal or political motives, asserted that collective unity is the key to overcoming challenges.
Expressing firm confidence in Pakistan’s stable and prosperous future during an address to the business community in Karachi Gen Munir contrasted the economic despair of the past year with the present, pointing to improved indicators and expressing optimism for further progress.
“The clouds of despair that loomed a year ago have now cleared,” the army chief remarked. He challenged those who had spread negativity about the economy and predicted a default, questioning their accountability.
The COAS urged Pakistanis to invest in the country, emphasising that economic recovery depends on internal efforts rather than foreign bailouts. He stressed that only Pakistanis could drive the nation’s prosperity. “Nothing should come before the well-being of the country,” he said, encouraging the business community to play a pivotal role in rebuilding the economy.

He reminded citizens that Pakistan is their sole identity and that learning from the struggles of other nations underscores the importance of a strong and unified state.
The COAS also underscored the state’s responsibility in protecting Pakistan’s digital borders and ensuring the digital security of its citizens. He linked terrorism to illegal businesses, suggesting that specific elements were fueling unrest.
Gen Munir’s address called for collective efforts, optimism, and investment to ensure a stable and prosperous Pakistan, reiterating that unity and prioritizing national interests are essential for long-term success.
