ISLAMABAD: A portion of the newly constructed F-8 Interchange in Islamabad has sunk following recent heavy rainfall, due to which the traffic has been diverted.
This multi million flyover was constructed in a record time of 45 days.
Due to the damage, the F-8 Interchange has been closed from Islamabad towards 9th Avenue for all kinds of traffic.
Earlier, another part of the same flyover had collapsed due to heavy rains. The incident has raised serious concerns among citizens, pointing towards poor construction practices and possible corruption.
Traffic on Islamabad Expressway is also jammed due to waterfall accumulation and bikers under the bridge.
The Islamabad administration has mobilised sanitation teams across the city to ensure quick drainage of rainwater, particularly in areas prone to flooding.
According to the Met Office, the current rain spell will continue for two more days in the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad, with intermittent showers expected throughout next week, starting Sunday evening.
