ISLAMABAD: Federal police rescued two policemen who had been held captive by drug dealers in Uthaal village, a suburban area of Phulgran in Islamabad.
According to the SSP Operations, both officers sustained injuries due to torture and were shifted to a hospital for treatment
The officers had entered the area to act against drug dealers when they came under fire. During the exchange, two policemen were taken hostage, according to a private news channel. A citizen was also injured in the incident.
Islamabad security put on high alert after Jaffar Express attack
Following the attack, a large police contingent was dispatched for a rescue operation. However, local residents pelted stones and reportedly opened fire, making it difficult for police to move forward.
In response, additional personnel from various Islamabad police stations were called in.
A search operation is ongoing to apprehend the suspects.
