LAHORE: The provincial government of Punjab, under Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has announced the revival of the laptop scheme. From election campaigns to social media memes, distribution of laptops to students has long been associated with the PML-N government. Staying in line with that, the Punjab government has now launched registration for the “CM Punjab Laptop Scheme 2025”.
Matric exams start in Punjab
This year’s campaign is aiming to provide 110,000 latest-generation laptops to outstanding students. Out of these, 2,000 laptops will be earmarked for students belonging to the minority communities. Students from South Punjab will have 32 per cent quota in this scheme.
According to the Punjab government, the distribution of laptops will be as follows: 20,000 laptops will be given to university students, 14,000 to college students, 4,000 to technical and agricultural college students, and 2,000 to medical and dental college students. Matriculated and intermediate students are eligible for the 2025 scheme as well.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
The subjects included in the accepted list of academics for this scheme include science, computer science, medicine, social sciences, engineering, business, language, agriculture and veterinary medicine.
To qualify for the scheme, applicants must possess a domicile from any district in Punjab, and must be enrolled in first or second year of graduate program in a public college or university.
Students from public sector colleges and universities must have obtained minimum 65 per cent marks in Intermediate, while students of public sector Medical & Dental Colleges should have minimum 80 per cent marks in Intermediate.
The candidate must not have been a recipient of any previous laptop scheme.
APPLICATION PROCESS
The application for laptops scheme is to be completed and submitted online, at cmlaptophed.punjab.gov.pk
Manual applications will not be entertained and the hard copy of the application is not required, the website for the program said.
There is no application fee. Documents required for the application include:
- Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC) – front and back copies,
- Matriculation (Secondary School Certificate)
- Intermediate (Higher Secondary School Certificate/equivalent)
- Equivalence Certificate (if applicable)
- Domicile Certificate

The laptops will be distributed to qualified candidates after Ramazan 2025. Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has confirmed that the first shipment of laptops has arrived. She said that distribution ceremonies will be held across the province.
